There are three requirements for the MCT 2002 Program:
bulletMaintain a premier certification (MCSE, MCDBA, or MCSD): This requirement guarantees that all MCTs have passed exams covering Microsoft platforms and operating systems and understand how specific technologies fit into the larger technology picture.

bulletDeliver at least 10 days of Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) or MSDN training courses: This requirement ensures trainers will maintain high quality instructional skills and deliver dynamic, engaging classes.

bulletEarn 20 (15 technical and 5 instructional) continuing education credits: This requirement keeps MCTs abreast of training and technology developments by attending courses and conferences.

The following questions and answers help clarify some FAQs regarding the MCT 2002 requirements.

Premier Certification Requirement:

How do I record my certification status?
Your exam credits will be automatically counted for you. Therefore, you will not be required to prove your certification status.

When will I have to upgrade my MCSE certification to Windows 2000?
If you currently hold an MCSE on NT 4.0, you will be required to upgrade your certification by April 30, 2002 in order to maintain your MCT credential. If you do not, you will lose your MCT certification and will need reinstate your certification once you acquire the Windows 2000 MCSE credential. You need to complete a reinstatement application and pay an additional fee. The MCT Enrollment Tool (online reinstatement application) is available on the private MCP website at https://partnering.one.microsoft.com/mcp
Will the new MCSA certification meet the MCT requirement for a premier certification?
The new MCSA certification will not qualify you for MCT status. This credential meets an important customer need, but does not require the design skills or the breadth of skills identified by a premier certification such as MCSE, MCSD, or MCDBA.

Will the MCDBA certification meet the MCT requirement for a premier certification?

Yes, the MCDBA certification on also fulfills the premier certification requirement. For more details on the requirements for the MCDBA, see http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcdba/requirements.asp.

The next two requirements you are required to track. We recommend that you use the folder you received in your MCT 2002 Welcome Kit to keep track of your delivery day documents and CEC documentation. You are not required to submit these documents; however you will need to keep on file for audit purposes.

Delivery Day Requirement:

How do I record my delivery days?

To prove your training days, you must fill out a Proof of Delivery form, which lists the course taught, the date of the course, and length of days. The form should also be signed by your employer.

If I customize my MOC or MSDN Training course, do I still get credit?
Any custom course, made up of MOC or MSDN Training modules, will be counted according to the number of full days taught. At least 50 percent of the content must be MOC or MSDN Training modules.

Will I get credit for teaching at a client’s site, say in a client’s training classroom or does it have to be at a Microsoft CTEC?
Yes, delivering MOC or MSDN Training at a client’s site counts for delivery days credits. Delivery may take place at a Microsoft CTEC, AATP, Certified Partner or client’s site in their classroom.

Continuing Education Credits Requirement:

How do I record my Continuing Education Credits (CECs)?
To prove your CECs, you will need to keep documentation from courses and conferences that you attend. Please save the following for audit purposes only: course completion certificates, receipts, and conference badges. As for earning credits by passing exams, your exam credits will be automatically counted for you.

How do I earn my 15 technical CECs?
Technical credits can be earned by attending a Microsoft course to learn delivery techniques, attending a training skills course or presentation skills conference, delivering an eLearning course, or taking the eTrainer Online Workshop  and passing the associated exam. There are a number of trainer skills conferences and courses available around the world.

How do I earn my 5 instructional CECs?
Instructional credits can be earned by attending a Microsoft course to learn delivery techniques, attending a training skills course or presentation skills conference, or delivering an eLearning course. There are a number of trainer skills conferences and courses available around the world.

If I passed exams prior to October 2001, will they count for the MCT 2002 program year?
Yes, the following exam activities will count as technical continuing education credits toward the MCT 2002 program year.
   - If you achieved your MCSE certification on the Windows 2000 track by December 31, 2000, you will receive 15 technical CECs and a special gift.
   - If you achieve your MCSE certification on the Windows 2000 track by June 30, 2001, you will receive 15 technical CECs.
